It verifies whether the building is designed using efficient strategies such that it is energy and water efficient, reduced emission of CO2, etc and then certifies it.There is a demand for LEED AP i.e. accredited professionals who provide LEED certification to various projects.
You can specialize in a particular LEED rating system and certify various projects with your knowledge about green building practices. To become an accredited professional you need to take an exam which is divided into two parts.
For the first part which is a LEED Green Associate exam, you need to have complete knowledge about the various green building practices. You should have ample knowledge of the various practices that a green building should follow. The second part is a specialty exam which is based on one particular specialty like- LEED AP building design and construction, LEED AP homes, etc.
The different eligibility criteria are- professional experience on a LEED project along with the verification of LEED Online or employer attestation, and you need to agree policies and programs and submit to an application audit. The LEED green associate part of the exam focuses on the concepts and the terminology, whereas the second part tests the in depth knowledge of any one of the LEED AP specialties.
